Step & Tone
Step & Tone aerobics classes are a choreographed routine of stepping up and down on a rectangular square or circle platform. Some classes also combine both step aerobics with body sculpting and/or jumping rope.
These classes are great at getting your heart and lungs in shape and toning your buttocks. They’re also a particularly effective cross-training activity for runners, cyclists and walkers.
In general, the level of the step dictates the intensity of the class. The higher the step – the harder the workout.
Who Should Take Step & Tone Classes?
Almost anyone. They’re also adaptive, so different fitness levels can be accommodated in the same the class. We would say that anyone with back, knee or ankle problems might want to try a different class though, or at least keep the platform very low. The class instructor will be able to advise on this.
